Susan Hayes

Biography

Born in Watervliet, New York, the heart of Shaker country, Susan Hayes was raised in the legacy of the simple form, line, and design of that famous style. It is without doubt that this background became a major influence on her artistic career.

Surrounded by the architecture, furniture, and design of the Shakers, and driven by her own strongly enquiring imagination, she has explored artistically the composition of line, color and form. These explorations and her own love of art prompted a classical training, both in America and abroad, leading to a series of distinguished exhibitions and commissioned public works.
