While in California, David also studied photography and woodworking, planting the seed that would take hold 19 years later after successful years of working in stained glass and wood. In 1999, David returned to photography after studying briefly with photographer Tom McCall. David traveled to photograph landscapes and seascapes along the east coast of North America and throughout the Southwest and California.
In describing his art of choice, David says, “Photography is an art form where I first must find compositions, instead of creating them. I look for designs that are both pleasant to look at and have some emotional depth to them. When I have gotten something interesting on film, the darkroom is where the work is completed. It is only when every element in the print seems in harmony does the photograph become a successful work of art.”
David’s work can be found exhibited in prominent art festivals and throughout galleries in Mid Atlantic USA.
