Biography
Shanna Kunz studied at Utah State University from 1997 to 2000 with a drawing and painting emphasis. Her strongest influences are Tryon, Twachtman and Whistler, mainly for their sensitive, delicate, high-key palettes. She works in series with each sharing a common thread: of subject matter, palette, or value key. This allows her to to push color and space beyond just traditional landscape representation and articulate an emotional connection to her environment. Every landscape Shanna Kunz paints is significant to her. Living just north of Salt Lake City, Utah, she feels that the diverse scenery available to her in the West offers her infinite choices for translation. Shanna is well-represented in numerous galleries in Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, Illinois and Washington. In 2003, she was listed as an “Artist to Watch” in Southwest Art magazine.
