Carole Shearer

Biography

Paper is Carole Shearer’s passion. “I see my paper art creations as a sanctuary - to be surrounded by them is a tranquil and up lifting experience.”

Carole’s designs combine contemporary urban expression with the Asian aesthetic of calm simplicity. Her extensive studies of Native American Art and Japanese papermaking combine the spirit of the primitive and elemental with modern style and technique. Common themes in her work include metamorphosis and the changing seasons, harmony and dissonance and the rhythms and patterns of music.

Carole studied at the Emily Carr School of Art and received her M.A. and B.A. at the University of British Columbia. She has taught art at the University of California, as well as worked as a designer in London, England. She currently resides in Sonoma, California. Her art graces the walls of homes and offices around the world.
