Nina Farrell

Biography

Born in 1974 in London, England Nina Farrell studied Fine Art Illustration at The Kent Institute of Art and Design. During this time she began to explore the amazing potential of the color photogram. The photogram, initially discovered by William Fox Talbot in the 1830s then later famously explored by Man Ray, is an image made without the use of a camera by placing an arrangement of objects on photosensitive paper exposed to light. Nina’s work explores color, light and form and her images reveal qualities often unseen by the naked eye. Nina has exhibited widely throughout the UK. Her published work includes book covers, cards, CD covers and window displays. Private works include a series of images for the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo plus many more individual commissions. “I am influenced by Japanese prints and patterns but mainly by the process of making photograms and the unexpected visual possibilities in everyday objects.”
