Virginia Ergüín

Biography

Virginia Ergüín was born in Bilbao, Spain on December 30, 1968. The daughter of Spanish painter Vasco Ignacio Garcia Ergüín, Virginia spent her childhood amongst his canvases and paintings, and traveling to his worldwide exhibitions. In school, Virginia studied advertising and classical drawing. In 1993, she spent a year on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. There she had her first solo exhibition, entitled "Lanzarote Gris.” In 1994, Virginia was selected to participate in the 13th edition of the Premio Blanco y Negro de ABC collective exhibition at Casa de Vacas in Madrid, Spain. She had a second exhibition that year as well, again in Lanzarote. Virgina’s work was selected by the Premio de al Fundación Barceló to appear in a group exhibition at the Palma de Mallorca in 1995. In 1997 she had a solo exhibition entitled "Abrazos" in Bilbao at the Galeria Caledonia. She had a second Bilbao show, entitled "Interiores", at the Club de Campo. Exhibitions in 2000 and 2001 included "La Historia de la Moda en Francia" in the Volkskunddemuseum in Obershonefeld, Ausburg; a collective exhibition at the Texilmusem de Mindleheim in Ausberg; a show in Madrid at the Galeria Herraiz entitled "Viaje a Senegal;” and a Bilbao show in the Galeria Caledonia titled "Senegal La Belle.”
