Biography
Tat Vilà was born in Olot, Girona, in 1960, to a family of artists. He started studying at a very early age at the Olot School of Fine Arts where his father, painter Vilà Moncau, worked as principal and as teacher of engraving. In 1979 Tat Vilà moved to Barcelona, where he studied at Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts and majored in painting. He also expanded his knowledge at the Circulo Artístico de Sant Lluc’ and at Barcelona Watercolorists Center, where he worked on the human figure. At the same time, Tat combined her studies with her work as teacher of painting at the Centro de Expresión Plástica Traç, in Barcelona. In 2000 Tat Vilà made an international stage organized by Centro di Promocione Culturale Mediterránea in Regio-Calabria, Italy and in 2002 became member of the teaching staff at Instituto Europeo di Desing, to teach classes of color. She is also art directors of Galería d’Art, Barcelona, since 1994. During all these years, Tat Vilà has combined her teaching work with individual and collective exhibitions in different Spanish cities and also in Italy, Germany and the United States.
