Biography
Gina Miller, an emerging visual artist, was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. She attended Capilano College and received a diploma of Fine Art. Gina is currently finishing her BFA at ECIAD, where she excels in printmaking and painting and currently employ’s both techniques in her focus on mixed media. Over the last five years Gina has enjoyed much success with her exhibitions at ECIAD, The Railway Gallery, and several privately sponsored exhibitions. Being able to express herself from mind to hand, striving to achieve balance, Gina conveys a sense of peace by bringing form, colour and pattern together. Her aim is to create modern works with many layers of thought and process behind them. Gina’s art practice is informed by multiplicity. She draws from her many roles in life as an artist, Mother, worker and student. These inspirations manifest in her rich mixed media art practice. Gina is able to react intuitively by embracing chance and choice through the eyes of a children’s curiosity, listening to great music and reading fascinating literature. Her paintings are created on either wood or canvas through a process by building layers upon layers of plaster, acrylic and variety of other mediums. The multiplicity in Gina’s life is echoed in her process. Going through many transformations in her work allows Gina to reach a state of balance and meditation. Gina values good design and conveying her fun sense of impulse and life through her visual explorations. She ultimately strives to resonate with the viewer and create a sense of meaningful connection. Gina’s interests include yoga, reading, cinema, music, writing and collecting found objects to inspire and use in her art practice.
