Biography
The pleasure of viewing Helen Shulman's abstract paintings comes from uncovering the realistic images that rest beneath the surface. Each oil painting on linen incorporates layers of glazes which are applied and wiped off until the surface has obtained richness and luminosity. While maintaining her career as a psychotherapist, Helen studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, focusing on painting and drawing. In the late 1990s she began her full-time work as an artist. She resides in Vermont and Florida.
