Biography
Betsy Bauer’s paintings and prints focus on floral and botanical forms juxtaposed with calligraphy and musical scores. They explore the relationships between the raw beauty of nature and refined classical form. Betsy uses old Italian text and opera scores because they emulate the passion of the landscapes of Tuscany, and the olive trees and vineyards amid the stone columns and frescoes of ancient Rome. Her work evokes Italian Opera, the spirit of the people, the warm weathered colors of Tuscany, and the sense of layers of age in crumbling walls and Old Italian Master paintings.
