Gaieta Teixido

Biography

Gàieta Teixidó i Musach was born in Calella, Barcelona, in 1930. At an early age, he showed an aptitude and an interest in drawing and painting.

At the age of 10, he took his first lessons at Escuelas Pias in his hometown. At 14, he moved to Barcelona, where he entered the Llotja School of Fine Arts and also attended a private drawing and painting academy.

In 1946, when he was just 16, he started participating in collective exhibitions and quick painting contests, where he was awarded many prizes. He worked in advertising, graphic design and set design until 1970, when he dropped everything to engage in painting only. He presented his first individual exhibition in 1975 and since then he has been showing his works continuously.

Many of Teixidó’s works can be found in private collections in France, Germany, England, Belgium, Holland, and Japan, and many Spanish cities.
