Mike Sleeper began making photographs at the age of thirteen and after college became a commercial photographer, eventually traveling worldwide for numerous corporate clients. After eight years in commercial photography he turned his attention to more personal work, concentrating primarily on landscapes and fine art portraiture. His portfolio exhibits a wide range of fine art photography. Mike's goal is to create photographs that transport people, photographs that remind them of where they have been or the places that they want to go. His photographs are an exploration of the relationships between the various elements of landscapes. He endeavors to capture the way people see places naturally, attempting to overcome the constraints created by the camera’s intrusion. With all of his work, Mike’s objective is to present an image that reveals the dynamic inter-relationship between land, water and sky. The dunes in snow or the beach just before a spring squall, the ocean in the gloaming five minutes before sunrise or a salt marsh moments before a threatening storm. Being in likely places at unlikely times is what makes exceptional photography, and exceptional photographs are what he strives to create.
