Originally from Princeton, New Jersey, Jim Dratfield spent more than a decade acting on stage and the small screen. His career change to photography came about because of his late, beloved canine companion, Kuma the Wonderdog.More and more, Jim treasured the fine art, sepia-tone photo portraits he took of Kuma and himself.Pet photography became Jim’s calling, and Petography® became Jim’s creative outlet. When you view Jim’s animal portraits, you will see a story, a memory, and many times, the importance of the animal to its human companion.Jim is able to capture the true personality of any pet in a variety of settings and poses, and his portraits range from the regal to the huggable. Jim has nine published books and has had many photo exhibitions. He lives on a farm an hour from New York City with his wife, their year-old son, and their Labrador retriever Sawyer.Though Kuma will always be an honored member of Jim’s family and life, Sawyer continues to give Jim the kind of wonderment and joy only our animals can offer us.
